You may have read the article last week in the Contra Costa Times but the rumors of closure seem to be true. Although the ownership will not confirm the closure, all of the locations have signs reading that they are closed for “remodeling”. I spoke with a couple different landlords who currently rent to the restaurant and they have also received the same “closed for remodeling” letter, in which they state they will be re-open in a weeks time.
The ownership has had its fair share of issues over the past few years including a raid by immigration officials in 2008. I will not be surprised to see “For Lease” signs very soon in all of the locations previously occupied by El Balazo. The prime locations include Pleasanton, San Ramon (Market Place), and Danville; the second generation restaurant spaces will likely include furniture & equipment.
